Escola Amadeu Correia was established on
December 1st 1931 making it the oldest Portuguese school in New Jersey.
Grades 1 through 9 are taught here by registered teachers. Once your
academic curriculum is complete, you are awarded a diploma authorized by
the Portuguese Consulate.
The Amadeu Correia memorial
foundation awards to 3 students a $1000.00 scholarship each year. This
scholarship is based on merit, taking account the students grades both
in the Portuguese School, as well as their primary education school.
In order to enroll your child in
this school you must be a member of the Portuguese Instructive Social
Club, and have your dues paid, and up to date.
School is located on the premises of
the Portuguese Instructive Social Club (PISC) at Rt. 1-9 Portugal Grove
Street in Elizabeth, NJ 07202.
Escola Amadeu Correia was founded in
1938 and is currently the largest Portuguese School in New Jersey, with
186 registered students in the 2009/2010 school year.
Offering classes from 1st to 9th
grade, 6 hours per week.
